Ah...the dentist

The kids had to go to the dentist yesterday afternoon. Just some background - Beth has been known to cry, scream and vomit on the Hygienist. She usually doesn't allow anything to be done to her teeth. As a result I am usually holding her down to have them look at her. As a visual - she is growing and is pretty strong. It is an ugly scene. In fact, for the last appointment I made Tim go with me because I found she is stronger than I am when she is mad.

Well, yesterday she came out of the appointment with a smile on her face. She actually got through the entire appointment on her own without any tears or screaming. (We go to a Pediatric dentist who prefers to have the kids go back to the rooms by themselves.) I was very proud of her. I feel like I won the lottery. A caveat - I did bribe her with a fancy Starbucks drink if she got through the appointment. That was the best $4 I have ever spent!

Andy, however, got the raw end of the deal. He needs to see an Orthodontist to discuss tooth strategy. The dentist wants to pull four teeth to give his new teeth room to come in. Before he does, he wants the Orthodontist to have a look. Can you hear money leaving our hands faster than the Dow dropping? Poor kid.

Speaking for the Dow - I have decided, after much deliberation and research, that there isn't any safe place for our retirement money. The only plan I can think of is to buy crude oil and stock it in the back yard. I hate to rely on government instruments - I think they will be out of money after they back the CEO golden parachutes and bail out the international banks. Gold is high - not a good buy. I think the money actually safer in the hands of corporate America. Who knew?
