There's No Place Like Home

Against all odds, we made it to Florida and made it home. We were delayed in Chicago going out and missed our connecting flight. We ended up in Florida later than we had hoped - without our bags. Our flight from Chicago to CWA yesterday was canceled. We had to rent a car to get home - again without our bags. Other than that, we had a fabulous vacation and a wonderful Christmas.

It is hard to sum up a week at Disney. Here's a few pictures to show our fun. Downtown Disney - Day One. We walked around Downtown Disney on Monday and then went to Disney Quest. The kids had gift cards from Aunt Terry and Uncle Bill and they were excited to spend them right away. It was cool out - which was great for us. They lost our bags and we only had the clothes on our backs. At least we had a washing machine in our room to clean them.

Day Two we went to the Animal Kingdom. It was beautiful 70 degree day. We had a lot of fun. The funniest part of this day was the Dinosaur ride. Andy LOVED the dinosaur ride last time we came - he was five. This time he was so scared he had his eyes shut the entire time! Beth got to see Minney Mouse and Pocohantas.


Day Three we went to Disney Hollywood Studios. Andy got picked for the Jedi School and actually fought Darth Vader. Definitely a highlight. He even got a diploma as a graduate. Beth had her face painted. She was kind of tired and crabby at this point - it was 80 degrees and we were waiting in the hot sun. She remembers just posing as a cat and not being crabby.

Christmas Day Grandma and Grandpa Pelot came to see us. We spent the beautiful Christmas day in Epcot. We had a great time. Like Andy said - we did around the world in 80 minutes. Lots to see and do here and it exposed the kids to different Christmas cultures. They are still talking about what they saw. ****Grandma and Grandpa - Our Daharmas are lost in our bags - I hope we get them back before New Years!!




The last day we tried to get to the beach, but the traffic was so bad. We went to Downtown Disney in the morning to spend Andy's gift card (he held on to his money all week) and it took us 1 1/2 hours to get back to our hotel - two miles. We decided to stay at the hotel and swim.

After a long flight and car ride yesterday, here are the kids last night coming home to their presents. They were troopers - they could have fallen apart yesterday during our travel troubles and they held it together pretty well.


Today we have to take the rental car back to CWA, get our bags, truck and try to get a refund on our canceled flight. Good thing we have another week off to rest up from our vacation!
