The kids had their friends over today. They swam and threw water balloons. Then we went to the lake for more swimming and miniature golfing. Memories were made. I spent most of the afternoon watching and reading the latest Nora Roberts book Tribute. Not a bad way to spend the day.
I almost forgot that my birthday was this week. We ate and drank so much on vacation that I don't even want to go out. I'm sure we'll have to do something to celebrate. The only thing I really want is to lose the 10 pounds that I gained this winter. For some reason, it just wants to hang on.....
Beth is crazy excited over her birthday and it's still three weeks away. Today she put notes on our bedroom door that said, "Where's my present? Where is it?" The joke is we are trying to figure out what to buy her. She is a hard one this year. I ordered a Lego set and that is about it. I just don't know. Her latest passion is gambling - thanks to Grandma and Grandpa - but I think buying her a poker set would be a little unorthodox.
For some reason, being gone a week has made our house go to hell. Our garage door stopped working, our faucet leaks and our landscaping is out of control. The kids and I are going to tackle the bushes tomorrow. They'll do anything to get paid a buck. Just when you think you have the house fixed up, BAMB! something else goes. I guess that is the nature of the beast.
